South West UK Lions Club
A 'virtual' branch of Radstock & Midsomer Norton Lions Club (C.I.O.) registered in England & Wales: Charity No. 1187472
Serving our communities across the whole of the South West
We recently hosted 4 youths from other countries as part of the Lions Youth Camps and Exchange Program
We are a 'virtual' club started in July 2021
We are a group of like minded members from the worlds largest volunteer organisation. We have come together to SERVE people in our local communities and enjoy friendship with each other. Rather than be affiliated to one city, town or village like most Lions Clubs, we have members located all over the South West.
Virtual clubs are a great option when individuals are pressed for time, restricted by geographic proximity to a club, or have limited mobility, among other reasons. We use our phones and computers to connect and plan our service. We establish a presence in a virtual space and coordinate our in-person service efforts using a variety of virtual channels.
Our objectives and purpose are exactly the same as any other Lions Club, meeting up physically to do in-person service in our communities, but with the flexibility to open up to a wider audience by assisting existing local clubs when needed, and through the use of online meetings to plan our work.
Where we have more than one member in close proximity, we call that a 'hub'; so 3 members in Weston-super-Mare, would be the Weston-super-Mare 'hub' of South West UK Lions Club.
We do not have 'normal' physical meetings most of the time as our members are busy with work and home life, so we use online meetings and other communication channels to keep each other connected (just like everyone did during Covid).
Sometimes, groups of members get together to hold a face to face meetings but we always include everyone using technology.
Importantly, we meet up and groups of us undertake 'in-person' activities in our villages, towns and cities just like any other club
